Ware School Committee names two superintendent finalists, votes acting principal contract

School Committee · Meeting of March 9, 2026

Ware School Committee names two superintendent finalists and approves acting principal contract. The committee voted unanimously at its February 25 meeting to ratify an acting principal agreement with Megan Sears, with Interim Superintendent Michael Wood saying his goal is to "have a principal ready to hit the ground running in July." The screening subcommittee named Nicole Haru, a director of student and pupil services with experience in Pathfinder, Munson, and Granby districts, and Mark Gosselin, a former superintendent with a broad range of district leadership roles, as the two finalists for permanent superintendent; interviews are set for March 11. The committee also voted unanimously to adopt a "Portrait of a Graduate" document and spent the latter half of the meeting drafting 13 interview questions on topics ranging from teacher retention and special education programming to school choice and district identity.

Business manager Andy reported a slightly worsening projected budget deficit driven by heating costs and rising school-choice outflows that reduce the district's Chapter 70 allocation.
